Lego Mindstorms for Daniel

Posted by spots (Singapore, Singapore) on 14 December 2012 in Art & Design and Portfolio.

Dan has always been keen on Lego. He started doing Lego Technic when he was five and for his birthday this year, Husband bought him Lego Mindstorms. At the same time, I found this series of workshops by Atom Robots that are much more affordable and informative compared to the Children's Technology Workshop classes at Funan.

This is the third robot Daniel has built with his Lego Mindstorms kit--it has a light sensor & if it detects an object in front of it, it will deploy its arm to hurl balls at the "intruder". Needless to say, the boys and Esther are having lots of fun with this one. The previous robots were a snapping crocodile and a simple robot. All three can move about on their own and are programmed not to bump into objects.

I look forward to seeing what else Daniel will be able to do with Lego Mindstorms!
