As usual, when the holidays roll round, out comes the Lego & the boys are off to building some newfangled thing. This time, Dan built a Lego Technic Airplane--it took him 2 days, and the thing is huge. Daniel's done two Lego technic projects before, including this one, when he was 5. I have to say that his Lego skills are definitely stronger than Benjamin's. The usually fidgety & easily distracted Daniel can sit there for hours and patiently build, and sometimes (when errors are made) re-build Lego projects. I can see the words "engineer" or "architect" looming in his future, but of course, it is far too early to tell.
What is very clear to me is that his building skills far surpass mine. I often get a migraine just looking at the instruction sheet. Especially for these complicated Technic models, which involve gears, parts that need to be fastened together, and sometimes, even, tubes! I am just thankful that I don't have to help him very much, and left to himself, I can pretty much be sure he'll end up figuring stuff out on his own.
Daniel's mind is definitely built differently from mine--is this a classic case of boys vs girls? Whatever it is, everytime the Lego comes out, I can only marvel at how God has created each of us different, and special in his/her own way. =)
