i'm not sure why but i decided to go all out this time for my husband's birthday in may. perhaps it was the sustained adrenaline rush of preparing for the mission trip: i figured, "since i'm already so flat out busy, it wouldn't hurt to throw in a homecooked Japanese meal for the family & my inlaws! woot!"
sigh. so yes, adding to the busyness, i prepared the following dinner for 5 adults & 3 kids:
1. seafood wafu salad
2. potato shrimp wasabi salad
3. deep-fried enoki mushrooms with truffle oil
4. crabstick & cucumber sushi
5. grilled saba
6. homemade tau huay!
the boys were super enthusiastic about helping out with the sushi--sushi is one of their favourite things to eat (next to cheesy macaroni & luncheon meat!)
it was a decent enough meal, and the celebrations continued, with cakes from the mission team and the combined DG social dinner... what an amazing weekend of feasting that was!
and how exhausted we were after all of that!
