How can I describe my 19-month old daughter? Well, talkative comes to mind. She is constantly chatting, to herself, to others, to herself. At home, she moves from room to room, talking to her books, her stuffed toys, to the pillows and the floor. She get animated when she hears music, especially certain tunes--like "Angels We Have Heard on High" and Daniel's school bell song, which he has learnt to play on the piano, and which he enjoys playing over and over. She can also recognise Daniel's Grade 1 exam pieces haha.
Many people have commented that she speaks very clearly. I don't really notice this since Daniel also spoke very clearly and early on. In fact, I think I remember Daniel being more eloquent than her, being able to put together a series of descriptions early on, around 17 or 18 months.
Esther, on the other hand, excels at listening, understanding and obeying instructions. She helps us to throw rubbish into the waster paper basket, she knows how to plug my phone into the charger, and she can go and call her brothers to come take their Sambucol. She has an excellent memory--if she sees an owl in one book, she'll remember the picture of the owl from another book and search for it until she finds it. Just earlier this evening, she saw my mum take out some dollar bills and said, "Fifty dolla! Fifty dolla!" We were stunned. Who taught her THAT? She can also perceive when we're speaking a different language and point it out, "Chinese! Chinese!" she'll say!
She really has been a delight to be around and I really praise God for that. I am super enjoying having a girl since she's always wearing nice dresses and having her hair decorated and tied up in different ways, and it's such a delight just to see her.
But most of all, I thank God that she is, so far, obedient. Most of the time.
I anticipate that Esther is going to be my most talkative child yet, topping even Daniel!!
