Yes, we have moved. And with us, approximately 1,000 books!
All I can say is, thank God they make apartments bigger than 5-room HDB flats. Otherwise, we'd be in serious trouble. And I say this AFTER having given away about 250 books! SIGH.
But the new place is big. And nice. That's because it's very very old, and consequently, every room is square and large. Just the way I like it. The kids are enjoying their new play room, which they never had before. But Ben said he misses Spottiswoode. When asked why, he quipped, "Because it had a lift." Yes, we bought a walk-up apartment. And it's a good thing too--wouldn't want my wimpy sons to lose out on all that exercise climbing up and down the stairs--I'm contributing to the country by preparing them from NS, can!
We are eternally grateful to KL & C who volunteered to whisk our two sons away on Vesak Day last week so that Husband & I could unpack. They spent the whole day with the boys, and even managed to put Ben to sleep, feed them lunch and dinner, bathe them and bring them back by 7pm! A truly amazing feat!! Thanks largely to them, we managed to unpack very quickly, and are settling into the new house smoothly.
One of my favourite things to do is to stand by the living room window and stare down at the swimming pool. I have to admit, the sound of children playing in a pool, the clean white walls, the still-empty walls and spaces--it makes me feel like I'm on holiday, and I still picture Spottiswoode as my home. Guess it'll take a while to get used to this new space. Maybe I should read a book to help me.
