At 7+ months, Esther:
1. is eating lumpy porridge with spinach and steamed pumpkin. She is also on Quaker instant oats (ground) in the morning, mixed with some pear/apple puree and yakult (!) (the yakult helps her poop). Her snacks consist of baby bites (which she licks & mashes with her mouth), yogurt and fruit puree.
Her repertoire of diet spans the following: porridge, pumpkin, sweet potato, carrot, spinach, pear, apple, banana, peach, oats, yogurt, baby bites.
Next up: adding flakes of fish in the porridge, trying raisins/craisins, adding chicken stock, and trying tomato puree (a la spaghetti sauce) and baked beans.
2. has overcome her constipation. It was pretty bad about 2-3 weeks ago, when she would scream in pain and a very little hard rock-like poop would come out after lots of crying. I taught her how to drink water from a straw bottle! It took me about a day--and she totally got it! (Actually all my kids learnt around 7 months, so I expected it wouldn't be a big problem.) And that helped. But what also helped was actually giving her LESS fibrous vegetables in proportion to watery porridge. I think she was having too much fibre!
3. is better with stranger anxiety. She will still moan a bit when a stranger comes too near, but will calm down very quickly so long as a familiar face (like me) is around. She is also very very entertained by Dan and Ben's antics, and they need not even be very funny! Here is a video of Ben entertaining her just by running in and our of the rooms, going "Esther Esther pok pok pok!" It sent her into peals of laughter again and again and again!
It is really hard to believe that Esther will be 1 in about 4 months' time! =)
