Daniel washing the dishes

Posted by spots (Singapore, Singapore) on 2 December 2010 in People & Portrait and Portfolio.

For some unknown reason, Daniel asked me to teach him how to wash the dishes after Children's Church on Sunday. So I did. And he ended up washing the dishes for lunch and dinner. The next day, after breakfast, he climbed up onto the stool and started doing the dishes too--I caught a video of him at that point.

Since then, Daniel's been helping out washing the dishes. He only stopped doing it this morning--but I plan to "remind" him to help out tonight at dinner, when he returns from Vacation Bible School. ^__^

I was so amused by his helpfulness & kept pointing and giggling as he was on the stool. Hahaha...

Its very heartening to see Daniel helping out with the dish washing after meals, at 5 years old. Very voluntarily, that is. A very good start to show his responsibility in the family and a role model to his younger brother (Ben) and later sister (Esther). With more detailed instructions, particularly on good safety and proper waste disposal, Dan should be able to carry out such activities - not only at home - but also outside on occasions like home parties. Good to start learning to wash dishes from young themselves, rather than relying on maids.
