Dan and Ben perform!

The day before we left for Vietnam, Dan & Ben had their kindergarten concert. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was the first time both Dan & Ben were performing on the same day--last year, Ben was not in KBK (Kay Poh Road Baptist Kindergarten) yet as he was too young.

The K1 dance performance (the performance Dan was in) was the flashiest and most elaborate one of them all. I figured this was because K1-ers are better able to execute complicated dance moves and choreography. The K2s of course would also be able to do this, but because they are graduating, and probably had to rehearse the certificate presentation part more, the K2 performance was a bit more subdued. Also, the K2s had to do a Chinese poetry recital & an English skit, so their dance performance was kept simple. As a result, the K1 performance was really a stand-out--Daniel danced to "We're all in this together" from the High School Musical. There was a lot of squats, bends, jumps, holding hands, forming of lines & joining lines etc., And for some unknown reason, they made the K1-ers perform their dance two times (perhaps to fill time??) so we got to see it "deja vu" and enjoy it twice! Dan (and all the boys in his class) was dressed in a sequined white top, with white pants. He declared that he wanted to wear his costume every day!

The Pre-Nursery performance (which Ben was in) was also very good, though much less complicated. They did Dayung Sampan, and Ben was fulled decked out in Malay costume, looking extremely cute rowing his "boat" with a wooden paddle. I was very proud that his teacher chose him to "lead" the Malay contingent on stage, and I must say, he was a very steady and conscientious "rower" of sampans!! .... ... ...

The finale was a lovely rendition of a Chinese Christian song, which had a rap in between, and a lovely rendition of "He is Good" by Steve Green. It actually almost made me cry--the kids learnt the sign language to the song, and it was very touching.

I am very thankful for the kindergarten we have found for Dan and Ben. Kay Poh Road Baptist Church Kindergarten is a small church kindergarten where Dan and Ben have found friends & good teachers. I really like the family environment of the school--even the bus driver and the administrator are members of the church and they all pitch in to help out all the time. By talking to some of the mums, I have also come to learn that KBK is pretty good at preparing the kids for Primary One, which is comforting. In fact, one mum said comparing KBK to a very famous and well-known kindergarten which her elder daughter attended, KBK is preparing her son better for primary school. Hmm...

All I know is that Dan & Ben are happy and well taken care of. And I do praise God for it!
