Ben's first book!

As a follow-on to yesterday's post, here is Ben's first book! While Dan chose the topic of Ancient Rome, Ben wanted to write about "Police". I don't know about the kids, but I certainly had fun doing this with them. They were bored after 3 pages, but hey, it took them about 45minutes to do 3 pages, including time discussing what to write, copying and re-copying (when they made mistakes) the sentences, and thinking about what to draw. So, that's not too bad. Making books takes time ok!

In case you're wondering about the pictures, the first page shows a policeman chasing a bad person up and down a dragon. I know, go figure! And the second picture shows a bad person in jail. With Ben, because he's younger, you can never really dictate what he's going to think of drawing. So you kind of have to go-with-the-flow, and if he draws a curvy line that goes up and down, then that becomes a dragon. You know what I mean? ^__^

At their present age ( 5 and 3 years), both Dan and Ben have displayed exceptional knowledge and linguistic skills compared to some kids I know. The two seem to absorb knowledge like a giant sponge so evident in their eyes that are "glued" to the TV screen. No amount of distraction will make their eyes blink even for a moment. Such abilities lie in their spontaneous vocal replies or expressions in routine activities both at home and outdoors. So writing and drawing 3 or more pages can be expected naturally from them, with encouragement from Spots.

I agree with Dad! These books are so precious. make sure you store them up and show the boys when they have grown up. :)
