Esther is 3 months old today! This "arrangement" of baby & stuffed toys is courtesy of Daniel. ^__^ Last week, I started to wean Esther from breast to bottle. She is still taking breast milk, just from a bottle. The first 5 days was very tough--she would scream for 5-7 minutes when Julie fed her the bottle. Then, she would fall asleep and drink drink drink. If she woke up, she would scream again, till she fell asleep and then she would drink. I tried to feed her from the bottle too, and the same thing would happen. On the 6th day, it was like the clouds clearing and the sun-reappearing. She took the bottle with NO fuss, no rejection, no objection. It was like a miracle! Very smooth. So here we are on Day 10 of Weaning. I am down to breastfeeding 2 feeds a day, and she takes another 2 bottles a day, plus a smaller one at 10.30pm.

I think the full weaning process may take a few days more, since I have been advised to drop each feed slowly, with a gap of 3-5 days between each drop. I am happy that Esther is drinking breast milk still, and I will continue pumping till I can no longer do so.

The main reason why I am weaning is because Husband and I are going on a trip organised by World Vision to Vietnam. We are going to see the sponsored children and the development work World Vision does there. It's an important and meaningful trip for us, so I need to stop breastfeeding by November.

Hi Ruth,

It is really a 'big' sacrifice to give up breastfeeding. I hope I will do that if I need to give up certain things in life to do God's calling. May the trip be a meaningful and fruitful one to both of you. God bless.
