The last thing we did as a family this June hols was to have a buffet lunch @ Ellenborough Market, Merchant Court Hotel. As we had some special vouchers, we ended up paying only for Daniel's portion of the meal, which made the whole meal feel pretty worth it! =) When Daniel was writing his diary that night, he drew us eating our buffet lunch and all he remembered eating were ... the desserts! He drew chocolate cake, ice cream, marshmallows with chocolate, and jelly!!! So hilarious! Hey, we did feed him properly ok--he had rice, noodles, kueh pie tee, meat, crispy wantons, even some soup. But he couldn't remember any of it!
Naturally, the kids lurved the marshmallows dipped in chocolate. There seemed to be a perpetual line (of kids!) lining up to dip their marshmallows in the chocolate fountain at the buffet spread. HAHA.
Well, it was a nice family lunch to mark the end of the holiday period. I kind of sank into low-key mode in the last week of the holidays. The renewed spates of rain meant we had to skip swimming @ Grandma's yet again, and a proposed trip to Marina Barrage with Sam, my nephew, got rained out as well. Just as well, as the kids seemed to be really tired out by my packed schedule, and towards the end, they seemed quite happy to stay at home and play Lego all day.
This has really been a very enjoyable June holidays for me. As we near the end of the 1st week back in school, I realise that spending the extra morning time with the kids has been really wonderful & fulfilling. Now, with them in school in the mornings, the afternoons spent together seem to short, and before you know it, bedtime at 8pm beckons! Well, on the other hand, it is also good to have school back in swing, since I am giving birth soon! Soon, I'll be wondering how to keep them occupied for the afternoons while I have to take care of a newborn! =)
