Name cards for mummy and daddy!
Quite by coincidence, Samuel (my nephew) and Daniel made name cards for Husband and me recently. Sam did his during a wedding dinner we attended last weekend. We didn't bring Dan or Ben, who sleep early, and Sam got a bit bored halfway through and started designing the cards on paper that was meant to be for well-wishes for the happy couple. His cards are the rectangular ones in the picture. So cuute. He knew Husband was a policeman and drew the police car straight away. As for me, he had to ask, "What does an Editor do?" When I told him I read a lot, he drew a "book" for my name card. ^__^
Then today, Dan wanted to draw stuff so I passed him some square post-its. He promptly made a "card" for me! I was so pleased, I made a big deal out of it and so he made another card for Husband. Note that for Husband's card, there's also a police car and a sort of flag. Boys tend to associate policemen with police cars eh! And as for Mummy... well, it's just my face. Apparently, that's what he associates with me--my face! Haha. I guess, my work is not that fascinating to him, plus I'm around all the time, so he does see "my face" quite a bit! =)
It's so cute when kids start writing you stuff, like the hotel note and the love notes to Daddy.Apart from that, Dan also played supermarket with Ben today--he wrote "price tags" for all the "masak masak" food we had, and Ben helped to stick them on. Then, Ben took a big tray and went round the house selling his "food" to us. I also gave Dan some old greeting cards, as I was clearing out my stationery box (the nesting instinct is setting in no doubt!) and I found some cards which had yellowed and could not longer be used. He promptly wrote a card for Grandma, put the rest in a play bag and went round the house "delivering" cards to various rooms, like a postman! He was very excited about this! In the meantime, Ben found some old caram pieces and scrabble pieces (yes, I've been housecleaning!) and began "depositing" the "money" into a small box, like a bank!
I really love it when the kids get busy with pretend play. It's very amusing, especially when they invite you to be a part of it, which they did of course. ^__^.
