Dan and Ben's pretend play

Posted by spots (Singapore, Singapore) on 3 June 2010 in Abstract & Conceptual and Portfolio.

With June hols in full swing, I'm spending more time with the kids by rearranging my work schedule slightly. And there seems to be so much more to blog because of it!

Dan and Ben have been doing a lot of pretend play recently, and I've been an amused participant of it all. On Tuesday, Dan ran a hotel and I had to give him my passport and he would write my name on a ticket. The pic above is what he wrote. I had to teach him how to write the "$" sign, otherwise it'd just be "19". haha. A... $19 for a one night stay in a hotel not bad hor? =)

Another time was even more hilarious. Dan "built" a counter made up of a chair, an old baby's play table, a box and a cashier's box. He then wrote signs "IN" and "OUT" and put them on each side of his "counter", and then "OPEN" and "CLOSED" to indicate when his counter was open and closed. Turns out, he was operating a BANK, not a supermarket.

I was his first (and only) customer. And the conversation went like this:

Mum: Hello.
Daniel: Hello. Welcome.
(silence)
Daniel: You can come in. This way. And just take the money.
Mum:??
Daniel: Take as much as you want. G'bye!

???
Some bank!

In the meantime, Ben was operating a restaurant with our masak masak food. So it was a sort of bank-cum-restaurant, a novel concept! While I robbed the bank of all the money (little paper circles Dan had spread on the floor), I was also well fed ! ^__^

Anyway, it's been a lovely first week of June hols. Coming home to the kids more frequently makes working life seem so dull. =)
