This month, Benjamin started school at Kay Poh Baptist Road Kindergarten, the school that Dan has been attending since June last year. Ben is in "Pre-N", which means pre-nursery, and by a good coincidence, his teacher was Dan's teacher last year!
By all accounts, the transition to the new school was very smooth for Ben. I sat with him for a little while on the first day. Then, said my goodbyes and left before Assembly started. Having Dan there definitely helped. And Mrs Arul, Ben's teacher, was very friendly and that helped too. While I continue to drive them to school, Dan & Ben have to take the school bus home. I'm not sure what happens on the bus, as I'm not there to see it for myself, but so far, it seems that both kids are enjoying themselves on the new bus, which was retrofitted with seat belts over the school break.
Dan has started 2 "enrichment" classes this year. On Wednesdays, he has something dubiously named "Thinking Class". ... ? Well, it turned out to be better than it sounds. They teach creative problem-solving and analytical skills by asking questions and through discussion. On Fridays, he's got Chinese enrichment, which is always a good thing.
Ben seems to be enjoying his classes and can tell me roughly what he does every day. It's also quite cute to see him in the uniform, which is slightly over-sized because it is Dan's old uniform. Dan, on the other hand, is also wearing an over-sized uniform because I decided to get him a bigger size so that he can grow into it. So, my 2 kids are both wearing bigger uniforms! Bwahaha.
Here's a video of some of the things Dan & Ben are doing at school--Ben learnt this song from school & Dan made a little "Job Box", which was an activity based on learning about Joseph and how he was given an important job to rule the land of Egypt. Click here.
