One-on-One time with the kids

Posted by spots (Singapore, Singapore) on 4 August 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

I've started spending more one-on-one time with the kids, and it's been lovely! Since the beginning of July, I've spent 2 mornings with Dan alone & 1 morning with Ben alone. While I'm spending time with one kid, the other is off at school.

It is truly amazing how different it is when there is just ONE kid, as opposed to TWO around. I think families with just one kid are so lucky! No squabbling, no inane quibbling & irrational chatter at the back of the car. No need to mediate sharing, taking turns, etc., It's just YOU and THE KID. And it's great!

For our second outing (I blogged about our first outing here.) I took Dan to the Botanic Gardens. He got to feed the swans, pigeons and fish. And we had a nice hearty walk. I really like spending time with Dan one on one because he's such an interesting and varied conversationalist. And he's got a tremendous memory, remembering slivers of conversation from eons ago, about the randomest thing, like plankton!

Anyway, I look forward to spending more one on one time with my kids. It'll be Ben next!
