Dan has been really impressing in the area of reading. Since about April, when I bogged this entry, I've been getting Daniel to read a few pages of various books each day. He's enjoyed reading Dr Seuss's Cat in the Hat, the Cat in the Hat Comes Back, some Curious George books, and most recently, a series of stories from the Little Bear series, really very sweet stories and so well-illustrated.
A few days ago, I went to the Bukit Merah Library and found these Fly Guy books by Tedd Arnold. They're hilarious and probably just right as early reading material--short sentences, 3 lines per page, funny pictures, and with a hilarious storyline too! The author even divides his story into "chapters", as if to get the kid ready for bigger books.
Dan never ceases to amaze me. When he is around crowds of people, he can act really hyper and crazy. The sort that never sits still and is so easily distracted that he can't concentrate. If I met him for the first time in a crowd, I would think, "This kid is really hyper!" Yet, when at home, in familiar surroundings, he can really focus. And learn. I should video him writing one day--it's really nice to see this multi-dimensioned human being emerging in Daniel.
