Spotted: Chicken in my neighbourhood

Posted by spots (Singapore, Singapore) on 14 December 2007 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

A chicken came a-clucking into my neighbourhood a week ago. It just appeared along the road, to the amazement of many of us. It then settled quite comfortably into a green patch of grass next to my block. And then occasionally, it would cross the road to the other block and then, cross back to the grassy patch! I witnessed this "chicken crossing the road" scene once - the chicken caused a whole line of cars to stop momentarily for its royal strut across the street! Hahaha!

Having a chicken in my neighbourhood, and such a beautiful one at that, makes the neighbourhood feel quite *special*. I am proud to say that once, we spotted a hornbill (those huuge birds with horns on their mouths) along the road. We also have a regular pack of dogs that have "set up house" in another green patch next to us. Other regulars include many chirpy birds and a lazy cat that sleeps in the same spot all day. I really do love where I live... Ah...

Looks like there is an "open zoo" there with so many animals in the neighborhood !
