As a finale to our stay in America, we packed up the kids, 4 bags of luggage, 1 diaper bag and 3 carry-ons and flew to Phoenix Arizona. From there, yours truly took the wheel and drove to Flagstaff where we rented a vacation house and used it as a base to visit the Grand Canyon & Sedona.
Most of you will know that I got my driving license less than a year ago (I passed the grueling Singapore Driving Test @ Ubi on the first try thank you very much!) Most of my driving experience has therefore been in America - confined to the boring suburban roads of Palo Alto, making trips to buy groceries, go to the library or park etc., *yawn* I was therefore very excited to drive a whoopin' enormous JEEP for 130 miles across beautiful mountains & valleys, going at 75 miles per hour (or thereabouts ^__^)It was really coo!!! HOOHOO!!
The whole family has survived the trip amazingly well. And in fact we've all really enjoyed it! Daniel is active as usual. As I'm typing this, he's threatening to poke the computer screen and type his own muddled blog entry with his little fingers. Benjamin has been a good baby - sleeping in the car, accommodating enough to be willing to be nursed under extenuating circumstances, i.e., at the back of the car, in the toilet, on the floor... !! And he's continued to sleep through the night consistently, which I really praise God for!
Today, we are leaving and returning to Palo Alto. I will be postin more pics of the amazing sights we saw in Sedona and Grand Canyon soon. Between the two, I really enjoyed Sedona much more. It's easy to see WHY Sedona has been voted the most beautiful town in America. The views are simply stunning, second to none in the world.
