Easter # 2: Daniel's drawing of the crossPosted by spots (Singapore, Singapore) on 12 April 2009 in Art & Design and Portfolio. On Good Friday, after revising the resurrection egg packet items, we made the kids do some colouring and drawing to reinforce what they just learnt about the easter story. I discovered that it is very difficult to find good free colouring pages of Easter online. Most of them were quite ugly. Or, they only had pictures of bunnies and eggs (even Christian websites!). This website however had beautiful free drawings for colouring. check it out. We managed to find a really beautiful colouring page for each of the scenes in the story: the triumphal entry to jerusalem, the Lord's Supper, the prayer at Gethsame, the cross, the resurrection. There were others too, but these are the ones we printed out. Daniel also drew his own version of the various events. Here is his artistic interpretation of the cross--there are 3 crosses--Jesus and 2 criminals--a dark sky (black), and on the right hand side, a "bad soldier" (as he calls them) in yellow (?) guarding the crosses and looking angry (so he says, even though he drew a bit smiley face on him). I am keeping all the kids' artwork and thinking we'll give them the exact same colouring pages every year, to see how their colouring /drawing improves (hopefully!) :)
