I bought a bag!Posted by spots (Singapore, Singapore) on 7 June 2008 in Lifestyle & Culture and Portfolio. So not many people know that I secretly look around for bags. Most of the time, I don't want to buy a bag. I just want to look for bags. I like looking at pretty things. I like comparing prices. I will think, "Oh, what a cute bag!" but then say, "But it would look horrible on me!" and then go, "This other bag though..." and yadda yadda yadda... It's a girl thing. The men don't get it. I once pronounced with great alcarity to Husband that "I have found the perfect bag." Upon revealing to him the masterpiece which I had unearthed after hundreds of hours of tireless searching on the web, comparing products, doggedly clicking on all those links and resizing all the images to get a better view of various images, my husband looked with silence. And then said, "What's so special about it?" ... All the bags that I have liked have always had some flaw. (1) They're extremely expensive (Exhibit A: the Orla Kiely Bag) (2) They're completely useless. (Exhibit B: the Designer Inspired Edith Bag by Chloe) (3) They're just not me. (Exhibit C: The Designer Inspired Spy Bag - I still love it, but it's a tad ostentatious for everyday wear, dont you think?) So, it is with great happiness, but also with some trepidation, that I have made my latest purchase. (SEE PIC ABOVE) A handmade leather bag -- something I have been thinking about for a while since I first saw it. It is classic-brown, supple genuine leather, slightly trendy looking, yet not so trendy as to be out of fashion very soon, sturdy, and just the right size for me (hopefully!).... I don't think this bag is perfect or anything. But I definitely like it. Enough. To buy it. It's kind of like an early birthday present to myself. ^__^ Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me! OK. No more bags for a while. :) (By the way, I bought it from my absolutely favourite shopping site online - Etsy.)
