Dan: potty training & videoPosted by spots (Singapore, Singapore) on 17 March 2008 in People & Portrait and Portfolio. Daniel is 2.5 and it's around this time that potty training goes into full gear. When he turned 2, Daniel didn't have any interest in using the toilet. But I got lucky. Van brought Gabe over to play one evening and I asked him (Gabe is 3.5) to give Daniel a "demo". I had been given a 2nd hand potty by a friend and when I brought it out, Gabe was only too happy to oblige. "See Daniel, you must pull down your pants and sit down. And then...." .... It was fantastic! Gabe just peed ON DEMAND. And immediately, Daniel's eyes grew wide and before you could say, "potty", he was pulling down his pants and begging to have a go. Of course, he didn't manage to pee like Gabe. But since then, Dan's been sitting on the potty once a day in the morning. And then more recently, partly because of all the rainy days, he's been going about diaper-less after school in the afternoons. It's been really good actually. These days, he can hold his pee in and run to the toilet. He doesn't sit on the 2nd hand potty anymore, but uses the Big Adult Potty instead. And his success rate has been 100% for the past week, i.e., no accidents. He pees into the potty almost immediately. (We put him on the potty every hour in the afternoons.) I'm not sure why but it seems more difficult to get Daniel to poop in the potty. Whatever it is, I found this amazingly random video on youtube. Trust the Japanese to be so ... strange and quirky. But yes, it IS an entire video about potty training, with songs & hand actions no less. I hope Daniel will be out of diapers soon. Then, it'll be one less thing to worry about! Maybe I'll make him watch this video when he wakes up... Hmm...
