So we took another family walk over the weekend, this time to Labrador Park, which is also near our house. We stuck to the park down the hill, refraining from trekking up nearer to the top, where there's a restaurant and spa. Labrador Park was surprisingly empty on Saturday morning. It was also a bit hot, despite it being right smack next to the sea, with a lovely boardwalk. There was no breeze. Or at least, very little.
Anyway, it was a fairly enjoyable time. Once again, the walk reminded me that you don't need to do much to please toddlers and babies. Dan was fascinated by all the big boats in the water. Some were gigantic, others were more like tug boats. We spent a good 20mins just sitting in one of the vistas that jut out slightly from the boardwalk, staring at the waters and hoping to catch some breeze. Then, it was a straight walk down to the Labrador Jetty. This jetty is longer than the Bedok Jetty at East Coast Park and true to form, there were quite a few people out fishing, a good mix of young and old folk. Just before the jetty, we stumbled onto a large playground which also had a Labrinyth made of wooden poles (see picture). That was pretty fun for Dan too - he kept squealing as we played peekaboo and tried to hide from him. Ben loved it too actually! The playground itself was fairly advanced - probably suited more for 4 years olds and above. Still, Dan managed the slide and a tight-rope thingy fairly well, with Daddy's help of course. The jetty was just great for the kids. Dan is still fascinated by the concept of a bridge, and the fact that by walking on it, you are "walking above the water". And of course, he was very keen on seeing the fish & fishing rods. The adults among us also noted with interest that there are coral restoration works going on around the jetty area. Maybe one day we'll be able to snorkel there and see beautiful corals??!!
All in all, another happy family walk, lasting about 2 hours. Cheers.
playfull, happy shot
