The Seed of Chocolate

Posted by spots (Singapore, Singapore) on 19 September 2007 in Food & Cuisine and Portfolio.

A few days ago, I got to try a fresh cocoa bean. A man from Valrhona cut the cocoa fruit before our eyes, scooped out the fresh seeds and placed one before us to savour. So what did the cocoa bean taste like? (Before it is fermented, roasted, and turned into yummy chocolate).

The answer?

It tasted like Soursop!

^__^ Really.

The Chocolate workshop was part of the National Museum of Singapore's Food & Culture Series. More details on its website.
