During our walk to the neighbourhood playground, we had a chance encounter with some of the kids from Dan's childcare. It was really cute to see them recognise him and yell out his name, "Hello Daniel!" in happy choral fashion. He was also quite excited to see them and his face lit up and he ran to them.
Dan started childcare on 16 Jul 2007 so it's almost been a month. The first week, he cried when Husband left him there. But, he would stop crying & play happily till I came to pick him up. Then, he'd cry when he saw me. By the second week, he had stopped crying when Husband left him there. And somewhere in the middle of the second week, he actually DIDN"T want to come home when I came to pick him up! (Hmmph!) ^__^ Well, we took it as a good sign.
Other good signs: Dan is able to recite the entire alphabet. He did this after 2 weeks of childcare! (WOW!) and he can also count to 10. I'm amazed - the teachers use a lot of singing & dancing to teach them and apparently, Daniel sings "very loudly" according to his teacher. HAHAHA.
Anyway, it's really nice to see Daniel interact with tykes his age on a regular basis. As the herd of kids walked off and we continued on our journey to the playground, Daniel pointed at them and said, "See! Children! See!" Yes, children indeed... ^__^
donno why my first thought was the kids' version of a hero taking on a mafia gang in an impending fight...

Its heartening to know that Daniel is "socialising" well with his newfound "gang" from the childcare centre. The gracious response from them towards Dan is indeed a good sign. And Dan picking up new skills from the centre is also noteworthy.
