A good reminder

Two girlfriends from my a cappella group came over to hang & pray yesterday. One mentioned she was reading James and so today, since I had just finished reading Colossians, I decided to start reading James as well. The first few verses were of tremendous encouragement to me - to consider it "all joy" when we go through trials of various kinds, as trials produce steadfastness (in our faith), so that we may lack nothing. Very often, when I face trials, I fall into self-pity and the "Why me Why me" syndrome. But is it not possible that God is allowing me to face all kinds of trials so as to strengthen me & allow me to further glorify Him in the future? What an encouraging thought.
